Invisalign Treatment For Adults
Bridgeport, New Haven, Danbury, Stratford, Orange, CT
The Invisalign treatment is the most recent development in orthodontic care, and it is quickly gaining popularity among adults. Invisalign is a method of gradually straightening teeth and does not require the use of metal brackets or wires but instead employs a series of clear, custom-made aligners. Since the aligners are nearly undetectable, the majority of people won’t even notice that you’re sporting them on your teeth.
Adults who want to achieve a straighter smile without sacrificing their appearance may find that treatment with Invisalign’s clear aligners is an excellent option to consider. In addition, the aligners can be removed during certain activities, such as eating, drinking, and brushing your teeth; this allows you to continue leading your normal life while undergoing treatment. Invisalign has proven effective in treating orthodontic issues such as:
- A bad bite (also called malocclusion), causes the teeth to fit together incorrectly.
- Teeth that are too close together or too far apart, can cause tooth decay or gum disease.
- Crooked teeth, can cause abnormal pain or pressure in the jaw.

Benefits Of Invisalign
If you’re considering Invisalign, you’re in good company. More and more people are opting for this clear alternative to metal braces. Traditional braces use brackets made of metal or ceramic, wires, and rubber bands. You also need the wires periodically adjusted to ensure your treatment progresses. Invisalign, on the other hand, moves your teeth into place with a series of clear, comfortable plastic aligners that fit over your teeth and apply precisely distributed pressure.
Invisible Treatment
Invisalign aligners are much less noticeable than traditional braces. Instead of brackets, wires, and rubber bands, clear aligners are used to move your teeth. Also, they are more comfortable than having metal in your mouth. When traditional brackets and wires are first put on your teeth, they can irritate your lips and cheeks. Even though Invisalign aligners may feel odd when you first put them in, they are less likely to irritate your mouth and are easy to adjust to.
Removable Trays
Invisalign aligners can also be taken out to eat, so you don’t have to worry about the food restrictions that come with traditional braces. Just take them out, eat or drink as usual, and then brush and floss before putting them back in.
Faster Treatment Time
Invisalign treatment also takes less time than treatment with traditional braces. When brackets and wires need to be changed often, you get a whole set of aligners at once. You switch out your aligners every two weeks for the next set, which moves your teeth a little bit at a time. From time to time, you will come to our office to check on your progress and make any necessary changes to your treatment plan.
How Does Invisalign Work?
With Invisalign, each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks. You need to wear your aligners for 20-22 hours each day, only taking them out to eat, drink, brush and floss. As you switch out each aligner for the next one in the series, approximately every 1-2 weeks, your teeth will move little by little, week by week, until they are in the right place.
The average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, and the average length of treatment is between 9 and 15 months, but this will vary from case to case.
