Dr. Shyam Desai is a board-certified orthodontist who has been creating healthy, confident smiles since 2008. He enjoys working with patients of all ages—from young children to teens and adults—and takes pride in making each visit a positive experience.

Dr. Desai believes that great orthodontic care starts with listening. He takes the time to understand each patient’s needs and goals, and works closely with families to create personalized treatment plans that fit their lifestyle. His background in diagnosis, treatment planning, biomechanics, and materials allows him to provide efficient, effective care you can trust.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology, graduating summa cum laude, from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He then received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, followed by his Master of Dental Science degree and orthodontic residency at the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Desai has also published research titled “Dynamic Smile Analysis: Changes with Age,” and continues to stay up to date with the latest advancements in orthodontics. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Board of Orthodontics.

Outside the office, Dr. Desai enjoys spending time with his wife, Kinnari, and their four children—Lana, Lexi, Liya, and Luca. Whether it’s family time, staying active with workouts, biking, skiing, or playing golf, he values balance and bringing that same positive energy into the office. He’s also a big fan of the Yankees, UConn basketball, the Knicks, and the Giants.
