Beautiful Smile. Bright Future!
Early Orthodontic Treatment in Bridgeport, New Haven, Danbury, CT and Beyond
Did you know that the American Association of Orthodontics recommends your child see an orthodontist by age 7? At this age, children have a mix of permanent teeth and baby teeth, and their jaws are still developing. During this stage in a child’s life, an orthodontist can monitor them for any orthodontic problems that may arise and create a personalized treatment plan that can prevent more complex (and costly) dental issues in the future.
For over 20 years, our board-certified orthodontists and amazing team at CT Braces have provided early orthodontic treatment, also called Phase 1 treatment or interceptive treatment, for children to correct issues including bite misalignments, spacing concerns, crowding issues, and more.
What Is Early Orthodontic Treatment and How Is It Beneficial?
Early orthodontic treatment is performed when there are still some baby teeth present in a child’s mouth. At their first appointment, one of our orthodontists will evaluate your child and determine whether their smile is developing correctly, needs to be monitored, or needs interceptive treatment.
Treating orthodontic problems early on can increase your child’s confidence in their smile. Additionally, straighter smiles make oral hygiene easier to maintain, preventing dental issues further down the line.
Interceptive Orthodontic Treatments Available At CT Braces
If your orthodontist determines that early orthodontic treatment is necessary, they will help you choose from multiple treatment options to determine what is best for you and your child.
CT Braces offers multiple Phase 1 treatment options, including:
Invisalign First®
Invisalign First clear aligners are a great option for kids to correct orthodontic problems comfortably and discreetly. Invisalign involves your child wearing a series of clear aligners that are custom-fitted to their smile. As a Top 1% Diamond Plus Invisalign Provider, we are experts at using this revolutionary technology to correct a wide range of bite and teeth alignment issues.
The aligner trays are removable for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing, making oral hygiene easier to maintain. Additionally, they are virtually invisible, making them great for kids who are nervous about the look of metal braces.
Braces for Kids
Traditional braces are the most popular form of orthodontic treatment, and for good reason! Braces are durable, effective, and more comfortable than ever. Braces work by putting constant, gentle pressure on teeth to gradually move them to the right position. Plus, kids love to choose the color of the elastic bands on their braces!

What if My Child Does Not Need Phase 1 Treatment?
It is common for no orthodontic issues to be found at your child’s first orthodontic appointment. If this is the case, then treatment won’t be necessary. Your orthodontist may recommend for your child to come back for occasional monitoring to ensure that their smile is developing correctly.
